We had wanted to change his name but didn't want to confuse him so this is perfect as it sounds the same. His foster mom came up with this new name, saying that Bowie is a rock star!

As promised....an update on Bowie. He was seen by the IMED at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists and had an ultrasound done. Bowie does have a liver shunt as we had expected; but, he also may have something neurological. . He had a pretty severe seizure while at the hospital and the neuro team has increased his meds. We are going to watch him for the next couple of weeks on these meds. If he remains seizure free, surgery to repair the shunt will be done. If he has any further seizure activity during this time, then we will have to first proceed with a neurological work up. So, for now, it is a wait and see approach. He cannot have surgery at this time with his seizure threshhold where it is.

The first photo was when we picked him up this afternoon. He was pretty sedated due to the meds that had to be used for the seizures he had. The second photo was from yesterday.
We are of course going to be incurring some very high veterinary costs, so we are continuing fundraising for Bowie.
