Bowie's Story

This sweet puppy is Bowie and he's 6 month old Cur & Plotthound mix who weighs 35 pounds. He'll likely be 60-70 pounds when he's fully grown. Bowie's sister was just adopted and now it's his turn! He is living with a great Foster Mom who says he's a very sweet boy who is happy and playful and loves everyone he meets including kids! He gets along great with other pups and we think he'll do fine with cats too but his Foster Mom will be testing him soon. Bowie is such a good boy and we want him to have a wonderful and active family who will give him an awsome life. We think he'd thrive in a suburban area and fully fenced yard. He's healthy, up to date on all his vaccinations, house-trained and crate trained. Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to find out more about him and get videos of him.

Long Road Home's Adoption Policy
Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes.   What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
