Bourbon's Story

Here is what a volunteer had to say about Bourbon:

Bourbons Doggie Day Out

I got to spend a few hours with Bourbon away from the shelter through the new Doggie Day Out Program. Here are a few facts I learned about Bourbon as we explored Lake Louise Park in Weaverville, Tractor Supply, and downtown Marshall.

Gets in and out of the car easily and did well in the car (but strongly prefers backseat to riding in the back of my Subaru).

Very friendly with people we met and loves rubs. Greeted people with all 4 paws on the ground and a tail wag.

VERY gentle taking treats but doesnt seem overly food obsessed, but he did love his Pup Cup from Starbucks.

He is strong and does pull some on the leash but settles as the walk goes on and seems very smart and like leash manners would improve with more practice.

He was interested in other dogs he saw but didnt bark or lunge and mostly seemed like he wanted to play.

Bourbon showed no interests in the ducks and geese at the park even when we were close by so he might be fine at a home with chickens.

He seemed pretty quiet overall.

Bourbon loves sniffing and exploring!

If you are interested in fostering or adopting, please contact the shelter directly at 828-649-3190 or email shelter@madisoncountync.gov.
