Boss's Story

Hi, my name is Boss! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Energetic, excitable, playful, silly, affectionate
-Can Live with Kids: Boss lived successfully with older kids (12+) in his previous home and should be fine doing so again! He can be jumpy when overexcited so sturdy, dog-savvy kids would be best.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history, will need slow, supervised introduction.
-Can Live with Dogs: Boss lived successfully with another dog in his previous home, although his owner did note that he and the other dog did fight over food/toys occasionally. All initial introductions done at WHS to ensure everyone gets along!
-Can do Apartment Living: Could be doable with PLENTY of exercise and mental stimulation, although we'd much prefer to see him go to a home with a yard! If you live in an apartment, please be sure to think long term about your living arrangements and check with property management for any breed/size restrictions.
-Potty Trained: Yes
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, one private lesson.
-Energy Level: Medium/high
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Neuter/microchip

Boss is a bouncy, spirited bully breed mix who loves his toys and his people! This playful guy has never met a squeaky toy he didn't like, and will happily parade around the room with any toy he finds. He was surrendered to us due to no fault of his own (health issues of previous owner) and is more than ready to find a new forever family to call his own. Boss would thrive in a home that can provide him plenty of exercise and mental stimulation, and also continue his training (he has a good handle on most of the basics but is eager to brush up on his manners and add more tricks to his repertoire!) If Boss sounds like the perfect fit for you, submit an application to come in and meet him!
If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
