Bosley's Story
Meet Bosley
Bosley is a one-year-old bully mix with a big heart, a powerful body, and a brain that’s still very much under construction. He’s thoughtful, cautious, and observant when first meeting new people or situations — the kind of dog who likes to take a beat before diving in. But offer him a few liver treats and some patience, and suddenly you’re his long-lost best friend.
Once Bosley is comfortable, his true personality shines through. In classic bully fashion, he becomes joyful, goofy, and enthusiastically involved in everything happening around him. He loves being with “his people,” enjoys learning new skills, and genuinely wants to participate. He’s not clingy, but he absolutely prefers inclusion over being left out.

Energy & Lifestyle
Bosley has a really nice balance of energy. He enjoys bursts of activity — running around in the snow, structured play, training sessions, and working on equipment — and when his physical and mental needs are met, he’s perfectly content to relax and be a couch potato. He’s not a nonstop chaos machine, but he does need regular outlets for his strength and brain.

Training & Manners
Bosley is crate trained (hasn’t made a peep), house trained, and actively working on leash skills. He is strong — think “freight train with feelings” — so he’s currently being walked using a gentle leader head collar, which he’s doing very well with and will be the safest option as he continues building leash manners.
He’s smart, eager to learn, and responds well to clear expectations. At this age, consistency is everything. When Bosley is asked for a cue, follow-through matters — boundaries help him feel secure, not restricted. He’s learning that listening always applies, not just when it’s convenient.

Confidence Building
Bosley can be cautious with new environments or unfamiliar experiences, but with reassurance, patience, and positive reinforcement, he pushes through those moments beautifully. Confidence-building exercises are already part of his routine — including doing mildly “scary” things safely (like stepping over broomsticks) — and watching him realize “oh… I can do this” is incredibly rewarding.

Other Dogs
Bosley has done well meeting several spayed female dogs. He tends to come in hot and eager to play, which can read as rude to some dogs, but he does respond appropriately to corrections and adjusts his behavior. He would benefit from slow introductions, structured play, and breaks to prevent him from escalating to level 100.
He is unsure with intact males, and play sessions should always be intentional and supervised. He has also had dogs pass by his crate without issue.

The Home He Needs
Bosley is looking for a calmer, structured home — not a high-chaos environment. A household with respectful teens (roughly 13+) could be a good fit, but the unpredictability of young children would be overwhelming for him.
He would be fine with people who work outside the home, as long as his needs are met before and after work. A fenced yard is required so he can burn off energy beyond leash walks. He does not need another dog to be happy.

The Good Stuff
-Neutered male
-1 year old
-60 lbs
-Crate trained
-House trained
-Loves learning
-Loyal, goofy, affectionate once comfortable
-A lot of love to give
Bosley isn’t a plug-and-play dog — he’s a relationship dog. For someone who appreciates training, structure, and watching a young dog grow into himself, Bosley will be an incredibly rewarding companion.

What’s included in your adoption fee?
At Myrtle Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, we’re committed to ethical rescue and lifelong support.
