Boone's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Boone, the distinguished gentleman who is ready to trade in his travel miles for a permanent spot on your rug. Boone recently joined us as a transfer from the Cedar Rapids shelter; they have been bursting at the seams with many great, adoptable pets - so when they reached out looking for help with placements, we knew we would be more than happy to give this sweet boy the change of scenery he deserved. Boone’s journey hasn't been without its hurdles; he was originally surrendered with a bonded companion, and after his buddy was transferred to a different rescue, Boone was left feeling quite lost. Now, he is looking for a fresh start where he can be the center of someone’s world. Since settling into his current foster home, we have learned that Boone is a social soul who truly thrives on companionship. He has shown to have some separation anxiety when his humans leave, and because of this, we feel he would do best in a home where his people are home often and where he has a canine companion to keep him company while his humans are away. He truly enjoys the company of other dogs, and having a four-legged friend by his side helps him feel safe and secure.
At 8 years young, this black Lab blend is a 'perfectly sized' 52 pounds of easy-going affection. While his past includes a history of fleas, skin infection, and ears that needed some TLC—Boone has completed proper medical treatment. Thanks to this proper care, he is looking and feeling like a brand-new dog! He is a low-key fella who is much more interested in a stroll or a nap in the sun than a marathon, making him the ideal match for a home looking to enjoy the golden years of a senior pet.
Boone is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. While we are still getting to know all of his quirks as he settles in, he has already proven himself to be a gentle, resilient soul who just wants to be loved. If you are looking for a loyal friend, Boone is ready to finally find a home he can call his own. Please complete an online adoption application for Boone if you're interested in meeting him!
