Boomer's Story
Meet sweet and gentle Boomer, an approximately 1-year-old, 50-pound shepherd mix who wants nothing more than pets and attention. He may have applications in progress, but is currently available.

Boomer was found as a stray in Kentucky and landed in an overcrowded shelter before getting rescued by Stop the Suffering. While Boomer listens well, he was never taught basic commands and will need a family willing to keep teaching him, including leash walking as he is leash reactive. He listens well enough that he's not disruptive and is willing to learn quickly, but given his size, it's important that his training continue. He is doing well with the other dogs in his foster home, but will need structured and slow introductions as he is currently a bit anxious about all of the changes in his life. He did fine with an initial cat test, but slow introductions are also recommended with cats as well. He must have a family who wants a dog who will be loving and affectionate with everyone - attention and pets are his main requirement. A fur sibling to play with will satisfy his energy. He appears to also like water and has gravitated toward large puddles if he can find them! Now that he's feeling comfortable with them, wrestling with his fur siblings and playing with them in the yard is one of his favorite things to do.

Adoption fee is $375 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, fecal/deworming, vaccines and prevention up to date. Ohio residents only.

STS is a foster-based and volunteer-run rescue. We do not have a physical location or set hours for you to meet dogs, and it does take time to answer each inquiry. All dogs are in foster homes and once an application is approved and a home visit is completed you will be able to schedule meet and greets with available dogs. We encourage interested individuals to get approved prior to searching as it helps expedite the process. A Petfinder inquiry is not a substitute for an application.
