BOOMER's Story

Since arriving at ABR, sweet Boomer has faced one health challenge after another. Each time we thought he was on the mend, a new issue would appear. He’s battled two ear infections, a stubborn UTI that led to the discovery of a rare genetic bladder stone, and a tough round of pneumonia that required a month of antibiotics.

When follow-up x-rays were done to check his lungs, the vet team discovered something even more concerning.

A CT scan confirmed our worst fears—Boomer has cancer. His report showed:
- A 6cm primary mass in his left lung lobe
- A growing nodule in his right lung lobe
- Multiple small masses near his heart and adrenal gland.
Despite this devastating news, Boomer has shown nothing but courage. He takes his medications like a champ, has become so much more comfortable with his treatments, and continues to enjoy walks, playtime, and of course—being a couch potato.

Boomer will now remain with his loving foster mom in palliative care, being spoiled and cherished for however much time he has left. Though his journey breaks our hearts, giving him unconditional love and comfort is what rescue is all about.

Please keep Boomer and his foster family in your thoughts as they continue this fight with dignity, love, and plenty of snuggles.

Boomer is doing well as can be expected— some days better than others. Some mornings he’s not too interested in his breakfast, but a little topper usually does the trick.

He’s soaking up the sunshine, getting spoiled with love, and his amazing fosters check in with him every day.

He’s on palliative care, and we’re taking it one day at a time — making sure every day is filled with comfort, snuggles, and joy
