Boomer's Story
Some dogs are companions. Some are sidekicks.
And then there are the rare few who operate like a one-dog cheer squad, support staff, social director, exercise machine, and snuggle blanket.
That's Boomer.
He's the sort of dog who shows up like sunshine. Coffee spilled? He's there. Good news? He's there. Tuesday afternoon? Still there. Whatever rhythm your day settles into, Boomer just syncs himself to it.
And he didn't earn that reputation lightly. In his first home, he was the gold standard of good behavior: housetrained, polite, loyal, with exactly the right ratio of steady to silly. When his dad got deployment orders, the man drove across the entire country to bring Boomer back to us, determined that this good boy would not fall through the cracks. We thought we'd found Boomer's next forever, but life had other plans. None of it was Boomer's doing, and through it all he never lost the grin or the tail-thump.
Now he's back with us, wagging like he's auditioning for Best Attitude in a Leading Role. And somehow... he's still here. We don't get it either. He's the dog our trainer brags about, the one volunteers take scenic routes to say hello to, the one we introduce first when a visitor says, "I'm not sure what kind of dog I want."
At six years old, this healthy Foxhound is a joyful shape-shifter: ready for a tug-of-war that will work your arms and core, ready for a slow stroll, ready for belly rubs under a patch of sun. His bark is loud enough to explain his name, but his heart is the real megaphone. He adores adults, kids, and other dogs, though cats and small dogs baffle him in ways we can't technically explain. He needs a home without either.
He loves mornings. He loves snacks. He loves squeaky balls and fuzzy toys. Mostly, Boomer loves life, and he's looking for someone who wants their life loved right back.
Come meet Boomer at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road in Hampton, VA. Visiting hours are 9 a.m. to noon, daily (including weekends and holidays).
Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!

PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.
