Bonsai's Story
Meet Bonsai: Learning to Trust & Loving the Inside Life!

Bonsai is officially on his journey to discovering how wonderful being a cherished indoor pup can be! Having lived outside his entire life, everything in a home is brand new to him-but he is taking brave steps every single day.

Here is a quick update from his foster home on how this sweet boy is doing:

Slow & Steady: He is still decompressing but is slowly starting to realize he is safe. He loves to follow his foster parent around (keeping a polite, safe distance for now) to keep an eye on all the action.

Big Milestones: He recently started accepting gentle pets, and his foster even got a few sweet thank-you kisses afterward!

House Training Champ: Unbelievably, despite transitioning from an outdoor-only life, he has not had a single accident inside!

The Crate & Alone Time: Bonsai does struggle with being alone and will cry and howl when crated. Because he is used to having other dogs around, flying solo is still a bit scary for him.

The Power of a Pack: We think introducing him to a resident dog is going to be a total game-changer. Having a confident dog sibling to shadow will help build his confidence, show him the ropes, and ease his anxiety about being alone.

Bonsai's Perfect Match:

A Patient Family: Someone who understands the decompression process and is happy to let him set the pace.

A Dog Sibling: A confident dog companion to help him find his footing and keep him company.

Warmth & Reassurance: Plenty of gentle hands to remind him that the good life is here to stay.

Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies.

Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered.

Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.

Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.
