Someone donated us 2 Yorkie mixes for Cyber Monday. I don’t think that’s how it works.

When the holidays begin, we would love for animals to stay put in their homes, with people they love and can’t be a day apart from. But what an imperfect world we live in. A cycle, a circle, an endless path.

Over the Thanksgiving break, we have had the joy of bringing in two new LEAD dogs, Bonnie and Clyde. I didn’t name them. I don’t want to change their names after they have lost their previous home too. First they lived with an owner for 6 years, who passed away and then to new owners for over a year, where the owners just didn’t have the time for them. Although they have transitioned nicely with our foster, I respect that the owners literally told us that they don’t want to give their dogs to just anyone to “profit off” of them. They decided a rescue was their best bet. We are of course super happy that even though they did surrender them during the fun, family-filled holidays, they wanted what was best for their dogs. Bet on us. And Bonnie and Clyde already won.

Bonnie is the brown, Yorkie/Maltese big girl. Shy but sweet. Clyde, a Yorkie/Maltese is the small but affectionate one. Supposedly bonded at 7-8 years old, we are looking for a home where 2 is better than 1. C’mon guys, having more than one dog is a madhouse...I mean just the bees knees. Both are housebroken, great with kids, good with calm dogs, content, docile, but they do bark. If it doesn’t bark, do you even dog?

Both are getting dentals and will be as healthy as we can get them before adoption, but we need adopters to understand that they are older and will need more regular visits to vets and this may be costly. Bonnie has chronic ear infections and will need sometimes need medication and require a special diet. Clyde has luxating patellas on both sides of his legs (which means that his knees come out of joint). This can cause arthritis and pain as he ages. Currently, he is very active and pretty athletic actually. He will likely require surgery for his knees.

Both are altered, vaccinated, chipped, and just need you. Will you be their gift not under the tree? Will you be their ho....Santa Claus? Will you be their countdown when the tennis ball drops on New Years? Apply and find out at leadrescue.org!
