Bonita's Story

Meet Bonita! ?
And yes—she knows she’s beautiful!

Bonita was found as a stray and taken in by one of our amazing fosters. Despite being reported to local authorities and posted online, no one came forward for her, so now she’s ready to find her forever home!

We don’t know much about her past, except that she’s been a mama before. She wasn’t spayed or microchipped when found, but she’s now safe, healthy, and thriving in foster care. Bonita is estimated to be around 4 years old, weighs just over 13 lbs, and we believe she’s a Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix.

Once she warms up, Bonita’s sweet and loving personality shines. She adores people—especially children—and is happiest cuddled up under the covers with her favorite humans. She’s also playful and enjoys toys, zoomies, and romping with other dogs of all sizes. (She currently attends doggy daycare and loves it! Her best friend is another Hazel's House foster dog, a pitty mix named Rogue!) That said, her playstyle can be a bit exuberant for smaller older or more laid-back pups.

Bonita’s a social butterfly—she does well with dogs who enjoy playing, is fine with cats, and loves respectful kids. She’ll do best in a home with another playful dog and a securely fenced yard.

Her biggest quirk? Bonita is an escape artist. She’s fast, clever, and always on the lookout for an open door or gate. For her safety, her new family must be vigilant about using a secure leash, harness, or martingale collar, and ensuring any yard is fully fenced with no small gaps.

Despite her adventurous streak, Bonita is truly a sweetheart. She “smiles” often—sometimes a little smirk, sometimes a full grin with her tail wagging a mile a minute. She loves her name and will do little happy zoomies when she hears it!

Bonita has so much love to give and deserves a forever family who will keep her safe and cherished. If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddly, and spirited companion, Bonita just might be your perfect match. ??

Adoption fee is $300. She is fixed, chipped, dewormed, flea treated, vaccinated and had a wellness exam.
