MAVERICK & MAIZE... TWO HEARTS, ONE STORY <br/><br/>Some dogs come into rescue ready to run into your arms.<br/>Others come carrying a story you can see in their eyes.<br/><br/>Maverick and Maize are brother and sister. And, somewhere along the way, the two of them ended up in a shelter...scared, confused, overlooked and wondering what they had done to deserve being left behind.<br/>And through all of it, they had each other. <br/><br/>When they came to us, it was obvious that life had taught them to be cautious. They are both incredibly sweet and gentle souls, but fear doesn’t disappear overnight.<br/><br/>Maverick is slowly beginning to understand that maybe... just maybe... he is finally safe. He is opening up more each day and showing us the tender, loving boy hiding underneath all that uncertainty. His gentle personality is starting to shine, and watching him learn to trust is something truly special.<br/><br/>Maize is taking a little longer.<br/>She is still very fearful and unsure of the world around her. She isn’t ready to give her trust away easily...and that’s okay. We will give her the time she needs. Behind those worried eyes is one of the sweetest, gentlest girls you could ever meet. She simply needs someone willing to show her that hands can be kind, homes can be safe, and people can stay. <br/><br/>And if their next chapter could include each other, we think that would be pretty wonderful.<br/>Maverick and Maize would love the opportunity to find a home together with a patient family who understands that the best relationships aren’t always instant... sometimes they are built quietly, one tiny victory at a time.<br/><br/> Their ideal home:<br/> A patient, understanding family<br/> A secure fenced-in yard is needed because of their fear<br/> Someone willing to let them adjust at their own pace<br/> Lots of kindness, reassurance and love<br/> They have not been cat tested<br/> They have not been kid tested (but are very calm and quiet)<br/><br/>They are: <br/>2 years old<br/>Great Pyrenees/Australian Shepherd mix <br/>Spayed and Neutered <br/> Up to Date on Vaccines<br/>Microchipped<br/> can walk well on a leash although Maize is more timid and reluctant to go without encouragement. <br/>pretty much house trained but occasionally will have an accident at night but does use pee pads for that. <br/><br/>They don’t need someone to “fix” them.<br/>They need someone to choose them.<br/>Someone who will celebrate the first tail wag... the first time they come looking for affection... the first time they sleep completely relaxed... and the moment they finally realize:<br/>“This is home.
