Bobby's Story
Please read our Core Values prior to applying, www.furryfriendsnetwork.com/adopt/our-expectations.

Updated 2/19/2026

After waiting patiently for almost a year, Bobby was adopted. All was going well until he got out of the house and had an unfortunate incident with the neighboring chickens, Suffice it to say, Bobby is not good with chickens and he is once again looking for a place to call home. SIGH....

While he was in his former home his running skills improved. He will run right next to his human without pulling on a leash at all and did 5 to 9 miles at a time. (Walking is still a work in progress as he pulls at everything he sees.) Bobby loves other dogs and another similar sized dog in his forever home would be great.

If you can believe animal DNA testing results it reveals that Bobby is a mix of Bluetick Coonhound, Beagle and Terrier. (We don't see the terrier at all.)

At any rate, this sweet boy continues to be beautifully behaved at home with no accidents. He is super alert and lets you know when anything (human or animal) is nearby. He loves running at the dog park, sleeps all night with his humans and gets along with the resident dogs, both of whom are larger than him. Please don't let this sweet guy get away! Despite not loving chickens, he is an amazing dog.

Updated 8/9/2025

Bobby is wondering why he hasn't found his forever home yet. He has loved meeting every single person at recent meet & greets and has turned into a perfect gentleman at home. He has learned to love the toys that come in the super chewer bark box.

After comparing his picture to other dogs available at nearby rescues we are coming to believe that he is more likely a pointer/labrador retriever mix. His behaviour certainly fits that breed mix. Not much hound vocalizations and a huge interest in birds that are nearby.

PLEASE consider Bobby for your next furry family member!

Updated 5/25/2025

Bobby has become an awesome dog! He LOVES running in the dog park and will run for a solid hour without tiring. He has learned to like toys, particularly a huge ball that he beats around. And he'll chew happily on a bamboo or wooden type bone. He will fetch and return a ball most of the time.

Bobby will run into his crate when a treat is involved. He has free roam of the house when his foster parents are present and has no issues but he is crated when his foster parents leave the house. He has been crated for up to four hours at a time.

Bobby is happy to meet any human that he comes across, as well as any dog. He can be a bit rough in play so a confident, similar-sized dog that has the same play style buddy would be best.

Bobby loves to sit on the picnic table and view his surroundings, paying great attention to any humans, dogs or birds that are nearby. He will bark on occasion but is not a crazy barker. Please pick Bobby!! He doesn't understand why he still doesn't have his own family.

Posted 3/12/2025

Bobby had a very rough life. He has made amazing progress since coming into rescue and continues to blossom every day.

Bobby is an amazing combination of scent and sight dog. We are not sure of his exact breed mix. He has the cutest spotted ears, webbed feet, always has his nose to the ground and he has an amazing ability to see birds well above him in the sky. Bobby is super affectionate, energetic, food-motivated, eager to please and is very quick to learn new skills. He loves toys and chewy bones and will follow you everywhere, hoping for constant petting and attention. He sleeps well through the night. He is great with other dogs and seemed ok with cats in the shelter (although he is not living with them in his foster home). Bobby would make a great running buddy (needs continued work on the leash) but is not recommended for a home with toddlers or a person unstable on their feet as he is a bit rambunctious. At 46 lbs. he is all muscle and extremely fit. His birthdate is estimated to be 8/1/23.

His ideal home would have someone who is home a lot (or who can take him to work), has a large fenced yard (or access to one on a regular basis) and is energetic. Another confident dog would be great if about the same size and energy level.

He will need a human who is knowledgeable about hounds and who will be willing to spend time to continue to make him the awesome dog that he can be.

Contact generalinfo@furryfriendsnetwork.com for questions or if issues are encountered with the adoption application or general adoption process.

Foster Homes are desperately needed in order to help more animals like this one. Please consider opening your heart and home to a homeless animal. To find out more about becoming a Foster Parent, see our website at www.furryfriendsnetwork.com.
