Bob's Story

Weight: 55lbs
Age: 8 years

Meet Bob! Bob is the sweetest gentle soul. He was rescued in Texas.

Bob has a great mix of low energy (at home) and moderate energy on the walks. He walks great on the leash. He is perfect for an apartment, he naps at home all the time with occasional play time, he loves fluffy soft toys and puzzles with treats. He does not understand fetch.

Bob is great with all people and kids, always looking for pets. He is great in elevator and other small places (e.g. Roosevelt Island tram where he rides 5-7 mins each way like a true gentleman).

Bob only met cats outside and his instinct is to try to catch them so he would need some time adjusting to a house cat. I feel like he would prefer to be the only dog at home but he will adjust to a female dog for sure.

Bob is completely house trained, he goes potty 3 times a day. We do a long 2 hour walk in the am - he meets lots of unleashed dogs in central park (while being on leash and is friendly with 90% of dogs). Bigger unfixed males can bring out his more dominate side.

He can stay home alone (out of the crate) for 4-5 hours easily (i have not try longer).

He knows sit and paw, his recall is pretty good, he is getting much better with "no" and "leave it" commands. He is fully adjusted now to washing his paws after each walk and walks to the bathroom and steps into the bathtub by himself :D
I think he will best match with someone who had dogs previously and can understand dogs body language (he appreciates some boundaries when strangers greet him).

He is generally a very easy dog, he would go anywhere with you very happily, very easy to manage, he loves treats and is quite trainable if needed.

**Bob previously tested positive for heartworm and was treated before he left Texas**

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING?
To adopt apply on our website www.truenorthrescue.org/adopt and email adopt@truenorthrescue.org to follow up on your application.

PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL TO ASK IF HE/SHE IS AVAILABLE. IF THIS LISTING IS UP, THE DOG IS NOT ADOPTED YET.

Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you!
