Thank you!<br/><br/>Bo’s story is a reminder of just how vulnerable dogs can be when they don’t have someone looking out for them. Bo and his canine sibling had been roaming the area and visiting neighboring homes when one resident caught them and threatened to “take care of them” (and not in a good way) if they weren’t reclaimed or brought to animal control. Thankfully, Bo made his way to our rescue, giving this deserving boy a second chance at the happy life he deserves.<br/><br/>When Bo first arrived, he was timid, extremely thin, and severely matted, with twigs tangled deep within the knots of his fur. He needed to be shaved in places, but his beautiful coat is growing back nicely. With proper care and a little time, Bo has blossomed into an outgoing, happy-go-lucky fellow who radiates positivity wherever he goes. He has gained weight and now weighs 85 pounds, with an estimated healthy adult weight of around 90 pounds.<br/><br/>And what a personality this boy has! Bo is considered one of our most social dogs, and it’s easy to understand why. He greets familiar faces with a smile and a wagging tail, welcomes everyone he meets, and seems to make friends wherever he goes. The staff adores him, affectionately calling him Bo-Bo, and he has become a favorite at the clinic. He’s easy to care for, keeps a neat kennel, and listens to commands. Best of all, he absolutely loves people! Bo laps up every bit of affection he can get and is happy to be petted, brushed, and loved on for as long as someone is willing to oblige.<br/><br/>Bo even has an adorable little quirk that makes him all the more endearing. When he sits down, he often tucks his front legs neatly underneath himself, much like a cat. It’s an unexpectedly dainty pose for such a big boy, and it’s guaranteed to make you smile! Oh, and speaking of cats, Bo is gentle and welcoming of them!<br/><br/>This handsome fellow is also great with other dogs and enjoys playing with toys. Sometimes he tosses a toy into the air and entertains himself as if he’s playing fetch with an invisible partner. You have to see it to appreciate just how cute he is! Check out Bo’s video for a glimpse of his playful personality. He enjoys romping around the yard, eagerly accepts treats, and seems to find joy in the simple things in life. His cheerful, fun-loving spirit is contagious, and he has a special way of lifting the spirits of everyone around him.<br/><br/>Thought to be a Great Pyrenees, Bo is estimated to be about 112 years old. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm negative. He has also received a ProHeart-6 injection, providing six months of heartworm prevention.<br/><br/>Bo has already been through more than any young dog should have to endure. Yet, he has emerged as a trusting, affectionate, and wonderfully social boy who seems determined to make the most of every day. Now he needs what every dog deserves: a safe home, a soft place to land, and a family who will cherish him for the big-hearted companion he is.<br/><br/>Whoever welcomes Bo-Bo into their life will gain so much more than a dog. The process includes the completion of an online application, a reference from the applicants' vet, a phone interview, and a visit to the applicants' home. The application process helps us determine what type of Golden would be best suited for the applicants' life style. In some cases, the specific dog you are interested in may have found a home before this process is complete or further assessment may indicate that this dog is not the right match for your family. We are frequently getting new Goldens in need of a home, so we encourage you to apply and complete the application process so that when the right dog comes along you will be ready. <br/><br/>The information provided on each dog is based on the observations of our vets, volunteers, fosters, and when available, trainers. Under the terms of the contract, all adopters are required to bring their SGRR dog to a vet within 7 business days. All dogs receive basic veterinary care prior to adoption. However, if an adopter's vet identifies an illness that an adopter is not willing to treat, then the dog may be returned and a full refund would be provided. <br/><br/>Most of our dogs are fostered in private homes. We do not have a facility to visit. We are committed to our dogs before, during, and after adoption! To this end, the rescue retains an interest in each dog and our dogs can never be surrendered, re-homed, or sold. Should an adopter no longer be able to keep their SGRR dog, SGRR must be notified so that we can take the dog back into rescue and place it into another home. We reserve the right to remove a dog at any time should we find the adopter is no longer providing proper care.
