I am beautiful, both inside and out, and I will make such a nice companion for my new family. I love everyone I meet, which is quite remarkable when you hear my story. Like most dogs, I am resilient and forgiving. And I am the perfect combination of energetic and silly and crazy fun, mixed with an affectionate, loving, couch potato vibe at times. I have so much to offer and so much love to give. I hope you will decide to welcome me into your family. I’d love to be your dog.

I’m an adorable, 1-year old, 33-pound bundle of sweetness, with gorgeous and soft brindle fur, the cutest face, and a happy, goofy, delightful personality. I’m already housebroken and crate trained too. Sadly, I’ve had a difficult life. When I got to Wayside, I was so thin from severe starvation that I wasn’t even sure I could carry on. Under the care of the kind vets at Wayside, I was able to begin the process of slowly increasing my food intake and gaining the weight that I so desperately needed to survive. These days, I’m on a normal diet and I continue to appropriately put on the pounds. I’m living the healthy and happy life that I so deserve. The best part is that I’ve been able to get nourished back to health in a loving foster home. Foster Mom lets me know how important and special I am every single day. Ah, life is good.

I love having a routine that I can count on. I stay in my crate when no one is home, alongside of Foster Mom’s other dogs, and I do great with this set up. At night, we all get to sleep in the bedroom. I usually choose the bed or a big, comfy chair. I typically get up around 4:30 for a quick potty break and a drink of water before heading back to bed. When someone is home, I can roam free in the house. My foster parents keep an eye on me, but I’m very well behaved. I’m mostly quiet, I love to play with my toys, especially the chew-toys, and I’m just generally a nice and good-natured friend. I have loved everyone in my foster family since the moment I walked in the door, eager to curl up close for cuddles. If one of the other dogs is already in that position, then I take my place in line, leaning against the other dog, just to be as close as possible to Foster Mom. I’m appropriate and polite when visitors stop by too. I’m curious as I check them out, but I don’t bark or jump up.

I have an abundance of energy, and I will need daily exercise to help me stay happy, healthy, and calm. We have a fenced yard at my foster home, where I love to romp and play and run like the wind in pure joy. It’s a beautiful sight to see me run at full speed! I will need a fenced yard in my new home, too, for energy release and fun. I also get to go for daily walks with my foster parents. I love it, but certain things I see along the way are new and scary, so it comforts me to have the other dogs along when we walk, and to walk in a familiar, quiet area without a lot of traffic. I do great on my leash. On the occasion when I don’t get enough exercise, I sometimes pace the floors. Please remember that I’ve been through so much in my short life, and I’m trying the best that I can to fit in. And please don’t ever be harsh with me. If you stay positive, patient, and calm with me, praising and encouraging me when I’m a good girl, I will learn what you expect from me.

I made fast friends with the other dogs I live with in my foster home, especially the Pointer. We play hard together and he teaches me so much about life. I’ll need to go home with another polite, playful, friendly dog to show me the ropes and to hang out with me. I also currently live with a cat, who I am curious about, but she lets me know when she’s had enough of me, and I respect that. I need a home with kids over the age of at least 6, because sometimes I get overly excited. I did fine when I briefly met Foster Mom’s dog savvy granddaughter. Foster Mom was proud of me for not jumping on her.

I can’t change my past and the pain that I’ve so often felt along the way. But my future is bright. Living with my foster family has taught me that I can do this! I am a survivor, I am a good dog, and I’m ready to love my people with everything I’ve got. I’m ready for my new life to officially begin! I hope it will be with you.

Love, Bluey
