Yes, but please keep in mind that they must be taught to respect the dog’s space, belongings, and food.
• HOUSEBROKEN? NOT 100% YET. As a dog rescued off the street and transitioning from living on indoor tile/ outdoor dirt surfaces in Mexico, they'll need time and patience to adjust to a new environment, but most of our dogs adapt to a potty routine within 1-2 weeks with consistent training.
• LOCATION: Currently in Guadalajara foster care. 2-4 weeks to arrange flight once adoption is approved

🐾 Meet BLUEY 🐾

When Bluey was found on the streets, he was covered in flea bites, his skin raw and inflamed from allergic reactions. Someone had beaten this puppy—barely four months old—and left him to fend for himself, malnourished and hurting. Most puppies that age should be round and roly-poly, tumbling over their own feet. Bluey was skeletal, too tired to even play.

For the first two days in foster care, he did nothing but sleep and eat. Sleep and eat. Sleep and eat. His little body was making up for lost time, trying to remember what it felt like to be full, to be safe.

Then something shifted. On day three, Bluey grabbed a squeaky toy and gave it a tentative shake. His foster mom nearly cried. "That was the moment I knew he was going to be okay," she says. "This puppy who'd been through hell was ready to just... be a puppy again."

And be a puppy he did. His skin healed up beautifully with treatment—now his coat is shiny and soft, no more scratching or discomfort. The transformation is remarkable: this is a dog who's completely bounced back, who holds no grudges, who somehow decided that life is actually pretty great.

Bluey has that perfect puppy balance—he gets his zoomies, racing around the yard with a knotted rope toy flying behind him like a flag, but he also knows how to settle. He'll play tug-of-war with the other dogs until everyone's panting, then flop down for a nap like someone flipped his off switch.

What really sets him apart for a four-month-old though is how well-behaved he is. He's not destructive, doesn't chew up shoes or furniture, seems to understand house manners instinctively. And when you sit down? He's right there, climbing into your lap, pressing his whole body against you. He absolutely adores cuddle time—will nuzzle into your neck and let out these contented little sighs.

"You can just hold him and he melts into you," his foster mom says. "He's so affectionate, so trusting. After everything he's been through, he still just wants to love people."

Bluey would thrive in an active home that can keep up with his puppy energy but also appreciates his sweet, snuggly side. He loves other dogs and would do great with a playful canine sibling to show him the ropes. He's smart, eager to please, and ready to grow up alongside a family who'll give him the happy puppyhood he deserves.

Are you ready for a puppy who's already proven he's a survivor, who wakes up every day choosing joy, who's waiting to make you his whole world?

***************************************

READY TO APPLY? HERE'S WHAT TO EXPECT:

Because our dogs cannot return to Mexico if there isn't a good fit, we're extra thorough in matching each dog with the right family—ensuring lifelong success for both dog and adopter.

1. Complete our online application at https://www.bapbr.org/adoption-application
2. Phone interview with founder Angela Adams if we determine there's a good fit
3. We arrange the flight to Oregon (included in fee) with weekly photo/video updates
4. Airport pickup at PDX—pay adoption fee, receive medical records, welcome your new family member home!

• Timeline: 2-4 weeks for CDC/USDA paperwork and flight arrangement once approved

• Adoption Fee: $650 includes:
Flight to U.S. • Spay/neuter • USDA import permit • Health Certificate •
All vaccines (DHLPPi, Rabies, Bordetella) • Full blood work & health tests (CBC, blood parasite tests, parvo/giardia/coronavirus test) • Flea/tick/heartwork treatment & deworming • Microchip • Grooming • Collar, leash & ID tag

• Payment: Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Zelle, or cash
Previous adopters often tell us the pre-arrival bonding process makes pickup day feel like welcoming home a family member they've been missing.

The Meximutt Project is 100% volunteer-run by a small team of dedicated animal lovers. We cannot respond to every application due to high volume, but if we think there's a good match, we'll reach out.

If you're ready to give this Meximutt the loving home they’ve been waiting for, we'd love to hear from you!
