Blues Clues's Story

Meet Blues Clues

Bluey -

Because everyone loves a dog named Bluey! Meets Blues Clues!

Here is your chance to discover the most delightful & lovable companion! Blues is 10 month old spayed female hound? Aussie? Shepard? Mix with a heart still full of puppy enthusiasm. Bluey was a stray and spent 5 months in shelter before being rescued and she has blossomed into an all star dog!

Medium size, 40 ish lbs - an ideal size for snuggling and sharing the bed and she is portable!! She does well in the car and would be happy to explore or even go camping! Bluey is a sweet girl, extremely adaptable to new situations, she navigates change with ease.

Blue is beyond smart and has already graduated A Sound Beginning positive reinforcement basic obedience class and would love to continue her training there - canine good citizen, rally or more! She was a very quick study and eager to learn! She is intelligent and no ordinary dog, she was even trying to train her foster for extra treats at class! This smart girl is fully potty trained, for an easy transition to her forever home. She shares a home with other dogs and school aged kids and is mindful and plays very well, she has also been gentle with puppies at events. She reads a room well knowing when to hit the pause button or go full turbo mode! She has been sucessful and thrives in various social situations. She loves being outside, enjoying games of fetch and exploring the surroundings. A fenced yard would provide the perfect space for exercise and play but will need to be tall because Bluey is equal parts sweet and athletic!

Bluey is alert and responsive meaning she likes to watch and hunt critters that she may like to chase. Cats, squirrels, and chipmunks but she can be redirected with love, patience, and treats!

At the dog sitters and adoption events, she shines, making new friends with ease. Leash walking manners have come a long way and she is making wonderful progress. As with anything, with patience and practice she will yield great results.

Her favorite pastimes include playing with stuffies, chewy toys, and bones. Things that squeak are her absolute favorites! Shes a young pup yet, and is still working on resisting the occasional shoe, but habits take time to break and with time this will go away. If she has a good tasty selection of bones, toys or your attention she will leave your valued items alone.

She sleeps well currently in a gated area with an open crate, and is doing well when left alone half day or more home alone.

If you have a huge heart, love to play and have another dog &/or kiddos Bluey would be your perfect match!

Our standard adoption fee is $375 if paid by cash or check, or $385 if paid by credit card (which includes a $10 processing fee). This fee covers spay/neuter surgery when age appropriate at one of our participating veterinarians, age-appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative, and microchipping.

In order to be considered for adoption, we require a fully completed application, a phone interview, and a meet-and-greet with your entire family. Please note that submitting an application does not commit you to adopting and does not guarantee approval—it simply allows us to begin the review process.

If you are interested in adopting or would like additional information, please email us at adopt@safehavendogsIL.org to request an application.

Keep in mind that the breed and size listed in each dog's biography are our best educated guesses and are not guaranteed.

Safe Haven Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse the adoption of any dog or puppy to any applicant for any reason.
