She was not part of the large group of 1,500 beagles recently surrendered and featured in the news. Instead, Bluebonnet was a participant in an animal drug research study. Many research animals are well socialized and adjust easily to home life, but that foundation can vary depending on their early environment -- and Bluebonnet will need an adopter who understands that.<br/><br/>She can be timid and fearful of strangers, and she will require a patient, gentle home that allows her to build trust at her own pace. We do not assess her to be a bite risk; her fear presents as avoidance and caution rather than aggression. Once she feels safe, she shows a soft, sweet nature that is easy to love.<br/><br/>Bluebonnet has been examined and cleared by our veterinary team as healthy and ready for adoption. While our adoption fee for adult dogs is usually $300, we are willing to be flexible on Bluebonnet's adoption fee (please be generous, as we use that money to help other animals).<br/><br/>Because we don't observe our animals in home settings, we aren't able to guarantee whether she is housebroken.<br/><br/>Upon intake, every animal receives:<br/><br/>Spay/neuter surgery<br/><br/>Microchip<br/><br/>All age‐appropriate vaccinations<br/><br/>Blood and fecal testing (with treatment if needed)<br/><br/>Flea, tick, and heartworm prevention<br/><br/>A complimentary wellness exam 7-10 days after adoption<br/><br/>Adopters must be at least 21 years old and live within an hour of our facility.<br/><br/>If you'd like to meet Bluebonnet, we'd be happy to help.
