BLUE's Story

Blue is a 1-year-old Blue Heeler mix (born 12/13/2024) weighing around 70 pounds. This handsome guy is everything people love about herding breeds—smart, athletic, playful, and full of personality. His favorite game is soccer, and he thrives when he has daily exercise, enrichment, and a routine that keeps both his body and brain busy. If he doesn’t have enough to do, he’s clever enough to create his own entertainment. Despite his active side, Blue is also a total sweetheart who loves attention and cuddling. He’s the kind of dog who will flop upside down beside you and soak up every bit of affection he can get. He can be a goofy, lovable oaf at times and doesn’t always realize just how big he is. Blue is fully potty trained, crate trained, and eager to learn. He responds well to structure and guidance and would do best in an active home that can continue building his confidence and giving him an outlet for his energy. He has sensitive skin and has done well with hypoallergenic shampoo and food made for sensitive skin and stomachs. Blue would do best with dogs his size. He has shown appropriate social skills with calm canine introductions. During one interaction, he mirrored another dog’s gentle play style, exchanging play bows, rolling behaviors, and respectful sniffing before wandering off to do his own thing. He does well with older children, though his herding instincts may lead him to gently nip at heels during play. Blue can also be nervous around unfamiliar moving objects like scooters, bikes, golf carts, and kids in costumes, but he gains confidence when given time to observe and adjust. Overall, Blue is a loving, fun, and intelligent dog looking for a home that understands herding breeds and is ready for an active best friend with a big heart.
