Blu is the cutest Golden Retriever/Shepherd mix who is 1 year old and weighs around 60 lbs. He has lovely blue eyes and adorable ears that look like he is going to take flight any minute. Blu was owner surrendered to an impound facility because they had too many dogs. He loves men and women alike. He will bark at new people at first but will settle down once he knows the person is ‘safe’. Blu is a sensitive and sweet boy, and he gets scared if you raise your voice at all. He tries to please his person and wants to be part of the family. Blu LOVES squeaky balls and will play with them for hours. He loves watching the wildlife out the windows and playing in his kiddie pool with his tennis balls.<br/><br/>Blu is housebroken when taken outside on a regular basis. Sometimes he will come to you or start pacing, which is a good time to see if he has to go outside. Blu is usually brought out on a schedule about every 5 hours. He goes on twice daily walks with his foster dad and does well on a leash and rides fine in the car (but is a little hesitant of street noises and gets scared). Blu occasionally jumps up on people when he’s excited but is easily corrected with a gentle ‘no’. He is still rather puppyish so you need to keep shoes and anything else he could chew on out of his reach and off counters. Blu would love a fenced in yard – over 6 feet tall would be good - so he can run and get his energy out when he gets the zoomies. <br/><br/>Blu sleeps on a dog bed in his foster’s bedroom at night and is allowed on furniture in his foster home. He loves taking naps on the couch next to his foster mom or dad. He does Not like to be in a kennel when left alone – he will cry, pant and get stressed. Blu seems to like being the only dog as he gets too assertive with other dogs (he does play well with dogs he has consistent interaction with); he would love his person to be home more often rather than gone long hours. <br/><br/>Blu has been around the foster’s older grandchildren and plays fetch with them; he has not been around cats in our program but we do not recommend a home with cats . . . or kids under 12 years old.<br/><br/>Blu is neutered, heartworm checked negative (and on heartworm medication), current on distemper and rabies vaccinations, and his microchip is registered to Second Chance.
