Blossom's Story
Meet Blossom 🌸

Blossom is a 10-month-old female Shih Tzu with a joyful spirit and a complex medical history. She was born with Pulmonic Stenosis, a congenital heart defect in which the pulmonary valve is narrowed, restricting blood flow from the right side of the heart to the lungs. This condition causes the heart to work harder than normal and can lead to long-term cardiac changes.

A few months ago, Blossom underwent heart surgery in an attempt to correct the pulmonic stenosis. Unfortunately, that procedure was unsuccessful. She later underwent a second cardiac intervention in which a stent was placed to improve blood flow. Despite these efforts, the damage and changes to her heart have not reversed as hoped.

Blossom is currently stable but will require lifelong heart medication and ongoing care with a veterinary cardiologist, with recheck appointments approximately every 6–9 months. There is a possibility she may require additional medications as she ages. Due to the severity and progression of her heart disease, there is a very real likelihood that her lifespan may be shortened.

While Blossom’s medical needs are significant, her personality is anything but fragile.

She is a goofy, playful, fluffy puppy who does not act sick or limited. She enjoys playtime, lounging on her back in total comfort, and perching on the back of the couch to observe the world around her. Blossom does well with other animals and children and thrives on affection and companionship.

Blossom needs an adopter who understands and accepts her medical reality—someone committed to continued cardiology care, medication management, and providing a calm, loving environment. Most of all, she deserves to be treated like a normal dog, allowed to enjoy life, love deeply, and be happy for however long that may be.

If you are prepared to open your heart to a medically complex dog and give her the quality of life she deserves, Blossom will return that love tenfold. 💗

Adoption fee is $350
Adoption applications available at rpaw.org
