Blossom's Story
Blossom is a 6-week-old Dachshund/Beagle/Chihuahua mix with a joyful spirit and a whole lot of personality. She’s the biggest puppy in her litter and already showing off her playful, strong, and energetic nature. With her long legs, sweet beagle face, and an irresistible half-pink nose, Blossom is impossible not to fall in love with. We anticipate she’ll grow to be around 13–17 lbs full grown.

Because Blossom is still so young, she will be placed through a foster-to-adopt arrangement. She cannot be legally adopted until she is spayed at around 6 months of age. Interested families will be onboarded as fosters with Rocky Mountain Dachshund Rescue (RMDR), which includes an in-home inspection, reference checks, and a signed foster acknowledgement. While Blossom remains under RMDR’s legal ownership, foster-to-adopt families are expected to provide regular updates and obtain approval for any medical or behavioral decisions.

Blossom will be fully vaccinated before placement and will be ready to go home after December 24th. The standard RMDR puppy adoption fee is $850; however, in a foster-to-adopt situation, families will pay $600 at the time of adoption finalization, with the remaining $250 applied as a credit toward her spay surgery.

As with all young puppies, Blossom will need a committed family prepared for the full puppy experience — including positive reinforcement training, consistency, structure, and lots of hands-on guidance as she grows into a well-mannered adult dog. Because of the level of attention and training required for a puppy her age, homes with children under 7 are not the best fit at this time. We share this thoughtfully and with care, as our goal is to ensure Blossom receives the focused support she needs to thrive.

Puppies are not appropriate surprise gifts, especially around the holidays. RMDR will thoughtfully interview all household members, and a meet and greet in the adoptive family’s home will be required to ensure the best possible match.

If you’re experienced with positive reinforcement training and ready to invest the time, patience, and love needed to raise a puppy right, Blossom may be a wonderful addition to your family.

Blossom is currently being fostered in Colorado.

Rocky Mountain Dachshund Rescue (RMDR) has foster families in Colorado, Nevada, Utah, Montana, and Wyoming. Please check the dog’s location before you apply to adopt them. You will need to pick them up. RMDR DOES NOT TRANSPORT THE DOG TO YOU or transport them across state lines.

The Colorado Department of Agriculture requires that all dogs entering PACFA-licensed facilities have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days of entry. Dogs over three months of age must also have proof of a current rabies vaccination, including the vaccination date, manufacturer, and serial number listed on the CVI. Puppies must receive parvovirus and distemper vaccinations at least 14 days before entry.

These PACFA requirements may affect the adoption fee. For questions, please email us at contact@rmdr.org.

At RMDR, adoptions are not first-come, first-served—we carefully place each dog in the home that best fits their needs. Applications are usually reviewed within 48 hours. Every RMDR dog is spayed/neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.

If you’d like to be considered, please start our online adoption application here: https://rockymountaindachshundrescue.com/adopt
