Blanche's Story

Sweet shy Blanche (and her best friend Dorothy) was rescued from a not so nice hunter in Louisiana in June. They had both lived all their 4 years in a 10’x10’ outdoor kennel churning out puppies for hunters. Their only protection from the elements was an old barrel and their only source of water was covered in green slime. Blanche is between 4-5 years old and weighs 21 lbs. She has a unique coat color with the most soulful big brown eyes. She is learning all about the good life in foster care.

Blanche loves walks, laying around in the sunshine, and rolling around in the grass. She enjoys her outside time with her people and doggie friends. She does not pull on leash and rides well in the car. She is reliably potty trained and a very quiet Beagle girl. Blanche is excellent with other dogs and cats. She is a “dog’s dog” and definitely needs a home with another dog to help show her the way. Living her entire life in the shadow of outgoing Dorothy likely stunted Blanche’s social skills a bit. Blanche’s foster mom has fostered hundreds of dogs over the years and reports that Blanche has a wonderful way of interacting with other dogs… she is tolerant and motherly with puppies…playful with playful dogs… gentle with special needs or senior dogs...a friend to fellow shy dogs.. ignores aggressive/bossy dogs, etc. She has a great read on what the other dog needs. Blanche absolutely adores puppies and would be a great resident dog for someone who wants to foster puppies or kittens. She is a mama dog at heart! Blanche is still very shy with new people and may always be a 1 or 2 person type of dog. Once she trusts you, she shows so much love and lights up when she sees you. She puts her paws up to be held and loves to be picked up and hugged. She just melts into you. Blanche is more of a homebody Beagle and is often shy in new situations/places. She has never shown any fear aggression when she is afraid and just wants to go hide. When “strangers” or kids come over to her foster home, she chooses to hang out in a quiet bedroom. Blanche has been coming out of her shell by leaps and bounds in foster care and we know she will continue to do so in her forever home… she will just need some time and patience as she adjusts, and she may just end up being a social butterfly like her buddy Dorothy! Note: we are looking for applicants that already have a dog, as Blanche needs another dog for company and confidence! Please email us at TheChiSociety@gmail.com to apply for Blanche, Dorothy or both!

Blanche’s album with lots of photos and video: https://photos.app.goo.gl/xQuaUPwBADiDJhFw9

Blanche is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, and current on heartworm/flea/tick prevention. Upon rescue, she did test positive for heartworms but has gone through treatment. As of early October, Blanche will be heartworm free and ready to find her forever family!
