Blanche's Story
BLANCHE, ONE OF 'THE GOLDEN GIRLS" IS AVAILABLE!

Despite Blanche's somewhat risque demeanor on the Golden Girls tv show, she is quite a bit different in real life. She has been here for a few weeks, and she has gone from sleeping a lot (recuperating from all the changes in her life) to being quite perky and ready for longer walks with, of course, lots of smelling along the way.

Blanche loves her food (What beagle doesn't?), and a few treats. She has regular routines and potties immediately after her breakfast and dinner, as well as on a few short walks during the day and before bed. She did have two accidents early in her stay with changes in food and schedule, but for the last few weeks, she has not had any issues at all. She explores cautiously when walking but stills pulls on the leash a bit.

She still naps, but she enjoys following the foster parents around the house and checking out what they are doing. She is fine by herself for a short period, but she goes in her crate for longer times alone. She sleeps in her crate every night, but she probably wouldn't mind snuggling in bed if you are open to that.

Despite other beagles often noisy baying and barking, she is an incredibly quiet dog. She only barked a few times when the foster parents were both outside shoveling or getting wood, and she couldn't be with them. She loves when visitors come, doesn't bark or howl, and goes up to them immediately for petting. While she isn't insistent on being petted, she does enjoy lap time and being on a sofa near you. One of her "quirks" is her watching dogs on tv. She has responded consistently to dog noises or barks, sitting up to look for the other dog for quite some time, as well as making her foster parents smile!

Blanche is about seven years old and 19 pounds and has beautiful tricolor markings. Her foster family says she is one of the easiest beagles they have had as a family or as a foster. She is very gentle and is ready to be part of a loving family who will continue to help her learn more about being a family pet.

She is located in Williamsburg, Va.

For an application go to www.homesfurhounds.org
