Blair's Story

Currently fostered in: Brooklyn Park, MD

Meet Blair!

ENERGY AND PERSONALITY
Blair is an extremely loving and loyal girl- quickly working her way straight to your heart with her goofy personality!

She has bursts of energy that are easily curbed by her favorite activities- tug of war, hikes, playing, flirt poles, etc. After all her fun zoomie energy clears, Blair loves to settle down for a nap with her favorite people and has no problem lounging around to play with her favorite toys!

TRAINING AND BEHAVIOR
Blair is crate trained and fully house trained. She has good recall skills, and is learning to navigate boundaries with other dogs and people. Blair is also very food motivated, making her eager to learn. She has shown great progress and improvement since her arrival, and responds super well to training.

SOCIAL LIFE
Blair loves people and does fantastic meeting strangers, but she is still working on practicing good manners when over-excited, so she isn't a candidate to live with young children or cats right now.

She is dog-selective and will need to be the only dog living in the home, although she does enjoy playtime outdoors with older, laidback dogs after a slow introduction.

SPECIAL TRAITS
Blair has been affectionately nicknamed "Big Chonk" by her foster mom (and she seems to take great pride in her nickname!) With her gorgeous coat, soulful eyes, and confident personality, Blair is not just a dog - she's a deeply loyal best friend. She's affectionate, attentive, and has a playful spark that can brighten any home.

BEST HOME FIT
An adopter that will have the patience and dedication to continue training is vital to Blair thriving!

She could do well in a range of calm home environments that allow her to be an only dog. She is still learning, and will benefit from structure and guidance (and some additional fun training to flex how smart she is!)

Blair thrives on human companionship and absolutely adores snuggling, so if you are looking for a big playful snuggle bug- she's your girl!

VETERINARY CARE
Blair is up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, and receiving heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives along with routine parasite treatments.

Ready to give Blair a chance? We promise you'll have a best friend for life!

Operation Paws for Homes's Adoption Policy
Our organization provides pet adoption services to families located in Virginia, Washington DC, Maryland, Southern Pennsylvania and neighboring states. We believe in responsible adoptions and strive to work with each adopter to find a good match for their home and lifestyle. Our adoption process includes completion of an application, a vet check, an interview, and a personal “meet and greet” where the family can meet and interact with their potential new four-legged family member. Throughout this process, we work to ensure each family and dog are the right fit for each other. We are fortunate to have some wonderful and active volunteers who help OPH find forever homes for over 1,000 dogs and cats a year. The key to that statement is - volunteer! Please remember that our organization is driven by caring individuals who give their personal time to help rescue these animals and provide them with the opportunity to find an amazing future! In addition to adoptions, volunteers carry out education and outreach events throughout the area, and conduct donation drives for our partner shelters in the south. Our goal is to offer a second chance to dogs and cats abandoned in shelters and out of time. Sadly, without our help, some of these adoptable animals would face almost certain euthanasia - sometimes within days of arriving at the shelter. Each year we rescue hundreds of wonderful dogs and cats. We work hard to unite them with forever families who will give them the life and love they deserve. These animals are saved only because of the dedication of our incredible adopters, fosters, donors, and volunteers.
