Black Cherry's Story

After waiting almost a year and a half for a court case to get settled, we are thrilled to finally say MEET BLACK CHERRY! Cherry is a mini poodle, about 4-5 years old or so, up to date on vaccines, spayed, and ready for a new home. Cherry is a super sweet girl. She gets along with everybody she meets, including nice dogs of all sizes and cats. She's still working on her manners, but she is pretty good. She is basically housebroken and is a good eater. She does okay on a leash/harness and in the car. She loves to cuddle, especially on your lap or in your bed. Because she came from a pretty horrible situation, she does have a bit of anxiety. She relieves some of this by running around the yard at full speed – once a day or so. Burning energy helps a lot. Because of this, she will need a fenced yard. Otherwise, she is pretty chill. Cherry does have a naughty habit. She loves to chew on fabric…..sheets, pillowcase, laundry etc. She should not be left unattended very long with fabric around. Nom. Nom. She will go in a crate and settle down when you are away. Because of her beautiful curly hair, she will need regular grooming. So far, she has been fine with that. Homes Fur Hounds, Inc.'s Adoption Policy

1. Once you have identified the dog(s) you are interested in meeting, you must submit an Adoption Application. You can find the application at https://www.homesfurhounds.org 2. Be patient. We occasionally have a high volume of applications, especially on puppies. 3. If your application is approved you will be contacted to arrange a meet and greet with the dog(s) you are interested in meeting. Whenever we have more than one applicant who is approved, we set up the meet and greet in the order in which the applications were received. 4. We are a small rescue group and do require home checks. Therefore, we only adopt to VA, NC and MD. Exceptions are made for medically needy or seniors if no qualified applicant is located in our adoption area. 5. We do keep applications on file for 6 months, so even if you aren’t selected for a particular dog, if you see another dog of interest, let us know and we will consider your application at that time. 6. Please don’t be offended if you are not selected to adopt. We try to match the dog with the BEST home for them. Just because you weren’t selected for a specific dog does not mean you can’t apply for another one. 7. Our adoption fee is $300.00.
