Biscuit

On May 30, 2026 a badly injured Tan Pitbull was brought to Northwood Animal Hospital on emergency. Jefferson County Animal Services office transported him after he was found in the road in a rural area of Jefferson County (Rabon Rd near old Lloyd). He could not use his left rear leg. There was a terrible wound on the inside of his left rear leg, with bone and tendon exposed. The skin and muscles in that area were torn, infected and necrotic. This juvenile dog was in bad shape.<br/>His gums were white due to severe anemia (from a combination of severe flea infestation, hook worms and whip worm infections). He received a blood transfusion, in addition to starting extensive medical treatment of the leg injury.<br/>We named him Biscuit. We estimated him to be about 10 months old. He is a tan pit bull.<br/>We hoped to spare the leg, starting him on frequent bandage changes but the leg wound was worsening. The decision was made to amputate his left rear leg. He was neutered and a microchip placed at that same time.<br/>Biscuit is such a sweet boy. He would lay in your lap for hours if you would let him. He has an adorable underbite that gives him such a goofy look. He has not exhibited aggression towards anyone or anything while in the hospital.<br/>Biscuit still needs to have his heartworm disease treated (which is covered by CARE).
