She will need patience and understanding to make up for lost time.<br/><br/>Health Notes<br/><br/>She is spayed and is fully up to date on her vetting. Birdies body shows the trauma of being caged for many years and she also has damage to her ears, which contributes to her being head shy and needing slow introductions.<br/><br/>Personality<br/><br/>Birdie has overcome a lot of trauma but is making strides in her newfound freedom. She is friendly with humans (because she is head shy she shouldnt live with small kids) but initially reactive to strange dogs and noises when out on walks. High energy, barking dogs feel scary and causes her to react. Birdie prefers to be with you as opposed to being left alone and might let out a bark or two when you first leave. She is very food motivated (classic Beagle) and should be fed alone to avoid resource guarding. <br/><br/>Family Matters<br/><br/>Birdie would love a calm home with a confident dog sibling to teach her how to be a dog. She has peacefully coexisted with other dogs in her foster home but is initially reactive when she hears/sees other dogs on her walks. Here are our requirements.<br/><br/> Fenced yard required<br/> No apartments<br/> Another confident dog in the home required<br/> No small children in the household<br/> Strong veterinary history with current pets up to date on vaccines, heartworm testing/prevention, and current pets spayed/neutered<br/> Preference given to adopters with beagle or hound experience<br/> Minimal hours home alone preferred<br/> Live within 5 hours of our headquarters in Whitewater, WI<br/><br/>Spayed<br/>Microchipped<br/>Working on her outside potty skills and picking things up quickly <br/>Learning how to walk on a leash, but a fenced yard is needed<br/>PLEASE do not crate, does spectacularly free roaming the house<br/>UTD on vaccinations<br/>UTD on preventatives<br/><br/>Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.<br/><br/>Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog.
