Birdie Bam's Story

Hi I’m Birdie Bam!
Legs of a Dalmatian, face of a Border Collie, and the size, fur and gentle giant spirit of a Great Pyreenese! I was so lucky to be rescued from the euthanasia list in Columbia, SC and arrived at my foster moms sick, dirty and matted but still so thrilled to see people and be petted! I've had a glow up (bath, meds and a trim!) and my beautiful gentle self is thriving.

My favorite activities are:
- being petted by my foster mom
- being brushed by my foster mom
- being petted some more (which is perfect because I have such soft fur)
- short walks - I have excellent leash manners and walk like a lady!
- rolls in the grass and napping under the bushes or in my kennel

I'm learning commands like sit, come and down and my foster dad says I am a very smart girl and a quick learner. I pay the cats zero attention. I don’t seem to have separation anxiety and I'm not nervous or scared around large men. I’ve only barked a few times when my foster humans didn’t let me come somewhere with them, but I quiet down right away. Birdie prefers to take her time with other dogs. She would thrive in a home as the only pet or with a patient family willing to do slow, careful introductions to any new dogs.

I did try to go on an unauthorized walk about once, so a leash and a fenced in yard may be best for me! If your looking for a gentle, well mannered lady to cuddle with I’m your girl!

MORE INFO:
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, or scheduled to be if they arrived in our care too young. Each dog has been seen by our veterinarian and treated for likely the following (all various): Age appropriate vaccines, overall health exam and other alignments as they come up. All dogs are dewormed, given core vaccines (Bordetella, DHPP (3 of them if a puppy) and Rabies as well as all are microchipped and on a monthly preventative for flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

All of our animals are placed into foster homes so they thrive and the transition is easier.

If interested in learning more or meeting this pup, please fill out our adoption application.
The application can be found here:
https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/JHRA/Dog
