Birdie

Hi, I’m sweet Birdie G., but you can call me Birdie, or “Bubbie”, after your favorite old Jewish Grandma. After all, I am 11-years-old! And like ole Bubbie… Boy, do I still have a lot of stories to tell, places to be, friends to see and kisses to smother your sweet little Noggin with. Everyone seems certain I’ve had many ‘a lovers in my life, but a gentle-lady doesn’t kiss and tell. So, sadly, all attempts at locating my last person have failed ever since my Foster gals pulled me out of traffic. The Gals tell me I probably got lost looking for my hooman, but sometimes I hear them say words like “maybe her previous owner passed away”. I wouldn’t know what any of that means. I don’t carry sad words in my vocabulary. Or in my disposition. That’s my motto in life and it’s also the secret to the fountain of youth (you’re welcome): BE HAPPY AND LIVE YOUR LIFE TO THE FULLEST. NOW! You should try it! The vet says I’m an overall healthy 66lbs Labrador/Retriever mix who thinks she is a lap-dog. Beyond my Labradory goodness, I have a short coat, dainty derriere, adorably droopy lips, irresistibly soulful eyes and still some spunk for my age. Yes, I keep FIT like RBG! I even spar for love! (Meaning, when somebody doesn’t pay me the attention I deserve or stops rubbing my belly too soon, I use my nimble front paws to swiftly guide their hands back to where they belong: Loving me while I grunt like a happy hippo!) What else is there to say about me? I love adventure, walks, car rides and social outings. Take me to a wine bar and I’ll teach your friends how to pronounce “Grüner Veltliner”. And after all that, I do love a good nap just as much as I love a clean house! Yup, there are no accidents or “Depends” for me. I keep a watertight seal. And ever since the gals started me on that sweet Mary J. (well, I guess it’s only CBD), I’ve forgotten all about my arthritis, too! So, I love throwing the frisbee for myself, bucking like a young buck. The only catch -- Ever since the gals caught on to what I can really do, they started asking me things like “sit”, “down”, “shake” and “stay”. I sure do remember some of it, but considering my vast experience in life, I think it’s safe to say that I know best when to “REALLY” obey. I do get a little sad when my gals leave me alone. But who wouldn’t after all I’ve been through? I’m pretty sure that if you love me steady, take it slow, and don’t fall for my charming puppy-eyes like Humphrey Bogart did, we can work this out. Speaking of love: I do fall in love quickly and deeply and there’s absolutely no limit to what my heart can give. I even warmed up to my 5-year-old Foster Brother who keeps trying wrestle me in the mud! Anyhew, enough of the kibitzin’, what I’m trying to say is this: I’m looking for my ride-or die dance partner on this sunset-cruise of mine and I intend it to be anything but a dud.
