When Birdie chooses her person, she bonds deeply. She wants to be near them, love them, and—true to her breed—make it her job to protect them.<br/><br/>And when we picture Birdies perfect life, we can see it so clearly...<br/><br/> A quiet home out in the country.<br/> Some acreage and plenty of room to explore.<br/> A big yard where she can patrol, sniff, wander, and relax.<br/> And one special person waiting for her inside.<br/><br/>Birdie absolutely loves being outdoors, but she is not an outdoor-only dog. She wants to be part of the family. She wants to come inside, stretch out, nap, relax, and be close to the person she loves. She is house-trained and kennel-trained and happiest when she knows where she belongs.<br/><br/>Birdie is also very much a Great Pyrenees. She is a guardian at heart and takes protecting her person, her home, and especially thresholds very seriously. When she believes someone is entering her space, she can bark, lunge, and react strongly. She also has some resource-guarding and protective behaviors that will require continued structure, management, patience, and training.<br/><br/>We want to be completely transparent about Birdie because finding the right home matters far more than simply finding her a home.<br/><br/> Birdies dream home:<br/><br/> An experienced Great Pyrenees or guardian-breed owner who understands the instincts that come with these dogs<br/> A single-person household where she can bond deeply with her person<br/> A quiet rural or country setting with plenty of safe outdoor space<br/> A home where she is an indoor companion and part of the family<br/> A secure, comfortable area where Birdie can relax away from visitors when people come over<br/> No children<br/> No other animals<br/><br/>Birdie is also not a dog-park or dog-playdate kind of girl. Crowds of dogs and busy social environments arent what she needs to be happy.<br/><br/>What she does need is someone confident and experienced who understands that guardian breeds see the world a little differently—someone willing to respect her boundaries, manage situations that are difficult for her, continue her training, and give her the consistency and security she needs.<br/><br/>Birdie isnt the dog for everyone.<br/><br/>But she doesnt need everyone. She just needs her person. <br/><br/>For the right person, Birdie could be an incredible companion. She is sweet, loving, devoted, loyal, and happiest when she has a person to love and a job to do.
