Billy Bob's Story

Billy Bob didn’t just show up as a stray - he was dumped, starving, and covered in fleas and ticks, trying to survive alongside his sister.

Someone stepped in and changed everything. Over the last eight months, he’s been loved, cared for, and given the chance to grow up safe, and he’s taken that chance and run with it.

Billy Bob is smart, affectionate, and full of that young hound personality. He’s house trained, crate trained, and knows his basics- sit, come, look, shake, and more. He walks well on a long leash, is friendly with other dogs, and greets people like he’s known them forever. He loves his bones, loves treats, and settles into home life easily.

He does best being fed separately from other dogs, but otherwise he’s a happy, easygoing companion who just wants to be part of the action. The kind of dog who will follow you around, check in often, and then flop down nearby like he belongs there - because he does.

The only reason Billy Bob is still looking is because the person who saved him is now facing health issues and is no longer able to care for him and his sister. What was meant to be forever turned into something temporary, and now he needs a real home.

He’s done the hard part already. Now he just needs someone to make sure he never ends up back where he started.

Helpless Hounds Dog Rescue's Adoption Policy
For a complete list of our adoption criteria, please visit: https://www.helplesshounds.com/faqs NOTE: You must complete and submit an application and be approved to adopt prior to being able to meet the dog. We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always try to select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs and try to find the best match for both dog and human. We leave a dog’s profile online until either it has been adopted, or has received several applications. We are a non-profit organization that spends our adoption fees and donations on vaccinations, surgeries, various medical tests, medicines, food and supplies needed by our dogs. Our fees do not cover the overall expenses incurred by the care of our dogs, but they do help defray the costs involved. We thank you for your support.
