Billie's Story

FOSTER NOTES:

Billie entered BAMM rescue in January, weighing 77 pounds. He was skin and bones - and moving like an old man:(. Shelter staff in California thought he was a senior.

After 4 months in foster, Billie has blossomed into a ~95 pound lovebug. We think he is actually 3-4 years old, and he is one handsome devil:)

Billie is SMART, playful, protective, and affectionate. He is fully housebroken and non-destructive in the home. Billie has quickly learned basic commands in foster care, and has also learned to walk like a gentleman on his leash 80% of the time. He likes the water and even cooperates at bath time. He loves people, especially men. He was very sweet when meeting a 5 year old girl recently. Due to his size, a home with older children is recommended (10+).

We recommend that Billie be the only dog in the household. This is because once Billie has bonded with his people, he will guard them from other animals - including other dogs. He is working on leash reactivity. He needs a strong handler for walks and/or a large fenced yard to oversee as his own domain.

If you need a large loving dog to keep the deer and rabbits away from your vegetable garden, Billie may be your man!

prior shelter notes

Billie is an older gentleman who as found as a stray and brought in by a Good Samaritan. His finders loved him and held him for about two weeks but couldn't keep him. They say, “We fostered him for about 2 weeks but couldn't keep him as we moved this week and couldn't bring him along. He's super chill and just needs some lovin'.”

Here at the shelter, Billie is an independent soul. He thinks for himself and has his own agenda, but has good energy. He loves treats and knows how to sit (good boy) but isn't the type to be all up in your business. He's a great dog for someone who wants a chill roommate-type companion instead of an obsessive best friend!

We haven't tested Billie with dogs yet, but please bring your dogs to meet him and see if it's a match!

Neutered Male

77 pounds

7 years
