Billie's Story

Billie will be 8 years old in June and found her way to freedom at the end of March. She is a 17-pound cavapoo that has been learning a world of freedom, love, trust and what being a cherished pet should be like after 7 years confined to a puppy mill. She's also been enjoying the pampered lifestyle, having been spayed and having a full dental along with extractions last month. She is learning the good touch of humans and tolerates a groom well. Don’t let her age fool you, she’s got a lot of spirit and pep in her step! That being said, she tells us that, just like her namesake Billie Holiday, she is looking for some “Easy Living.”

Billie has been doing well in her foster home with house training with regular outings outdoors. She is used to going outside both on leash and in a fenced area. She loves affection, attention, being brushed, car rides and of course snacks! She enjoys plush toys and can occasionally be a laundry bandit. She has mastered the commands “down” and “sit,” and is currently working on “stay.” Billie has excellent recall with her foster humans and is smart and eager to please. This sweet girl would love a home with another dog in it, especially for when her forever humans have to leave the house. She loves the company of the resident dogs in her foster home. Billie is not currently comfortable in a crate and has been left out in the home when her foster family goes out.

At night, she is used to sleeping in a donut bed next to her foster mom, though would love to sleep in bed with her people if she had a say! Billie has gotten along with everyone she has met as well as other mellow dogs, and has been learning boundaries with the resident cat. She would do best with older children if there are any in her furever home. Being a poodle mix, she will require regular grooming. It was noted at her last veterinarian visit that she has a 3/6 grade heart murmur. This murmur needs no intervention and causes her no issue; it will be monitored at yearly wellness visits.

North Paw Rescue told Billie “I’ll Look Around” to find her perfect home. Does she sound like a perfect fit for you? If so, please apply using the link below.

Billie's adoption fee is $400! This adoption fee includes: her alter, a microchip, her rabies, bordetella, and age appropriate DAPP vaccines, flea/heartworm preventative, and a deworming treatment while in foster care.

If you think she may be perfect for you, please apply using the link below!

https://www.cognitoforms.com/NorthPawRescue/NorthPawRescueDogAdoptionApplication

**Unfortunately, we cannot adopt out to Canada at this time.

**We require a 60 minute adoption radius.
