Bilbo Baggins's Story

Bilbo is a goofy 8 month old looking for an active (or sport) home. Bilbo is a super silly guy who always making us laugh! He is a confident boy who wants nothing more than to hang out near his person and have another playful dog companion. Due to his past, he would appreciate having a person who is home often and who loves to stay active, train, and provide daily enrichment. Bilbo does excellent with other dogs and has never met a stranger. He has met some chickens and showed no interest. He is easy to walk on a leash. He's about 95% potty trained and is perfect if you stay on a consistent schedule. When his needs are met he has a great off switch and is able to settle outside the create. He is double merle which has caused him to be deaf, but his vision seems to be fine. He also has been diagnosed with Canine Compulsion Disorder, but he is very well managed with exercise and medication!
For Potential Sport Homes
He is newer to the concept of having to work for a reward and he's picking it up! He's always down for whatever training session I have planned. Even though he is an active guy, he is not a super intense, fast-paced border collie who is looking to go go go. He's more of a bro who's interested in doing fun things with his person! This could make him a very good match for someone who wants to dip their toes into sports or someone who doesn't want a super intense border collie.
-Medium drive (prefers toys over food)
-Low arousal
-He has very recently started training for flyball, scent work, and frisbee.
-Absolutely LOVES to tug
-Does well in the car crate
-Is doing great working around distractions in new environments.
-Doing great respecting other dogs boundaries and does not bother my two other dogs who don't want to play with him
-He doesn't resource guard food or toys from other dogs
-Due to his past he would NOT thrive in a household that has a crate and rotate schedule
-----------------------
If you're interested in Adopting Bilbo, please fill out the adoption application: https://www.clancysdream.org/adoption-application

Clancy's Dream Inc.'s Adoption Policy
When you adopt any companion animal, especially a rescue, it is a commitment that will affect your lifestyle for many years to come. Do you have the time, energy and resources necessary to devote to a new member of the family? With good care, most Border Collies will live 10 to 17 years. It is critical that you consider what is likely to be happening in your own life — before you adopt a pet. If you can provide a healthy, safe and loving home and would like to adopt a Clancy’s Dream rescued Border Collie the next step is to read our Adoption Process Quick Facts and then complete the Adoption Application. Please note that the application is not an agreement to adopt a pet. Improper placement can end tragically — usually for the dog. This comprehensive application helps us to place the right dog with the right family. An adoption interview will be scheduled either by phone or in person upon review of the application. The level of experience required, need for a fence, adequate exercise space, hours the animal may be left alone, young children and other pets in the home, etc will be discussed in the adoption interview and will be determined according to the need of each dog.
