Biggie's Story

He has adjusted to life outside the mill pretty easily. He knows the routine and acts like he has lived here for way longer! He has started playing with toys, chewing on nylabones and learned to sit for treats - my husband was pretty impressed with this! Biggie just joins the bulldog lineup and sits/waits patiently like a good boy!

Housebreaking is way easier then I imagined it would be! He did some marking early on (as expected since he was an unneutered breeding dog) but in just a week we rarely have any pee accidents. He has never gone #2 in the house. His crate continues to be clean/dry.

Biggie went to the vet this morning. He had his sutures removed from his Entropion surgery and lump removal. He also had his ears checked although I’m still getting lots of gunk out of them the vet said they don’t look too bad. He is cooperative for ear cleaning, some wiggling/squirming but overall is pretty easy going about it despite it being uncomfortable. We have a new bottle of ears meds and he should be good after that. Of course being a bulldog ear cleaning/maintenance will be a lifelong commitment.

Biggie was SO good at the vet. He met everyone like they were long lost friends and even attempted to follow the vet tech out of the exam room. Some wiggling when the doctor and tech were getting the sutures out from his eyes but he really handled the situation well.

Biggie really is a good boy and would be great in most any home. He is great with my dogs but I think he would be fine as an only dog once he gets used to the idea of being an only dog and getting all the attention his heart desires! He definitely loves any bit of human attention he gets. He will walk up and sit at your feet for some pets. He is so sweet and loving.

1/24/22-Biggie has arrived after his freedom ride from a puppy mill. His breeding days are behind him and he is looking forward to a life of love and warmth as a family pet.

Biggie is a big long bulldog boy. He makes my Bulldogs look tiny. So on that note I’ve called him Big Boy, Big Meatball, Biggie Smalls, Big and Meaty… you get the idea so Biggie it is! Biggie is friendly as can be, after a quiet first 24 hours here where he just wanted to sleep (snore) and decompress he is now happy, friendly, alert and following us all over the house like he’s know us forever. Housebreaking is coming along as expected but as a bonus his crate is always clean and dry. Good Boy!

Biggie did have some medical things going on in addition to his neuter he had an umbilical hernia repaired, a growth (suspected skin tag) removed from his neck, Entropion eye surgery and a dental with 2 extractions. In addition to horribly infected ears. Biggie is so good about letting me clean his ears and apply meds. I’m sure it’s uncomfortable but he takes it like a champ. Biggie does have dry eye so he will need daily drops for that for the rest of his life to keep the eyes lubricated and help with tear production. One of my Bulldogs has dry eye and the meds are $75 every 4-5 months and that is for cyclosporine drops which is the best treatment there is. Biggie has no problem letting me give him his eye meds (antibiotic eye ointment from Entropion surgery and dry eye meds).

Biggie is a really good boy. He loves attention and if he wants to be pet will sit in front of you and put his paw on your leg as if to say “hey, I’m down here!” More updates and pics coming soon as we get to know this handsome boy better!
