Big Head Bernie's Story

Say hello to your dream dog! We would LOVE for you to meet this sweet, very good boy.

Bernie is a VERY nice young dog. If he were human, he would be the sorta guy who would stop on the side of the road to change your flat tire and would help old ladies cross the street. He is a totally stunning fawn bully mix with a big ol' gorgeous head, beautiful coat, and pretty golden eyes. I mean those eyes.

Bernie is only about 2 years old and perfectly-sized at 55lbs. He has done very well with all the people he has met (including when going to the vet), and he absolutely loved meeting his foster mom's elderly parents. Bernie is a pleasant, medium-energy fellow who doesn't need much. He likes to play every now and then if you want to play - and he loves squeaky toys, but he is also great at just hanging out. In fact, on Saturday's, his favorite thing is to lounge around the house all day; his foster mom calls it 'couch potato day'. Bernie has been out to a lot of public venues, including ones that were pretty busy with people and other pets and he was one COOL CUCUMBER. He just loves to sit or lay around when out in public, take in all the sights, and get pets/gentle affection. If you are looking for a new best friend with overall good manners to take to your favorite coffee shop patio, this is your dog.

In his foster home, Bernie has been wonderfully crate-trained (he loves his crate!), house-trained, knows how to SIT and lay DOWN on command, rides in the car like a pro, walks on a leash, and sleeps like a log. He absolutely LOVES food and treats, so the sky is the limit on what you can teach him. He takes treats very gently, listens well when you tell him about your day and promises to never complain about your cooking.

In addition to all the amazing things he already knows, Bernie is also a regular at the local doggy daycare where all the staff are deeply in love with him. He plays with more than 20+ dogs there of a variety of sizes and personalities and has gotten along with everyone. He also currently lives with other friendly, social dogs in his foster home including a similarly sized male dog and some little chihuahua yappers. He has done super. He also ignores his foster mom's chickens. Bernie doesn't currently live with children but we suspect he would do great with loving kids. This boy is pretty much a dream boat.

Did we mention this dog is about as close to perfect as you are likely to find? A generous donor has covered Bernie's adoption fee so he is FREE to adopt! He is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, has tested heartworm negative, and current on heartworm preventative. If you're interested in meeting this very good boy, we would love to hear from you. Dog adoption application here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/26346/generic
