Big Daddy - Local's Story

Big Daddy - a super handsome bully boy! Just look at those gorgeous colors!

This sweet guy had been on the streets in an economically challenged part of Memphis, traveling around with some other dogs. While attempting to trap a female dog, Big Daddy was hanging around, so the rescuers were able to rescue him as well--he went so willingly.

He's now been neutered, vaccinated and is living in a great foster home.

Big Daddy LOVES his toys, treats, and ice cubes! He is a major fan of walks, walking into ponds and lakes and chomping on the water, and going for rides. A fenced yard is highly recommended for him. He likes to be near his people, but will give you your space if you're in the same room. He's not shy to ask for cuddles and pets though! BD is great with older kids.

BD lived with other pups in his southern foster home, but he's since shown us that he'd prefer to be your one and only. He loves cats, but he also thinks they're able to play rough with him...so at his size, we recommend either a no-cat home or separated areas of the home unless supervised.

BD would thrive in a home that has a fairly consistent routine. He sometimes warms up to new people immediately, but sometimes needs a little bribing with treats and slower introductions. When on walks, Big Daddy works hard to protect you from other dogs and some of the people he encounters, so an experienced dog owner would be best.

Check out videos of this special boy:
https://youtube.com/shorts/OO_HqfO2-Do?feature=share
https://youtube.com/shorts/PdaUEW8m_5w?feature=share
https://youtube.com/shorts/PdaUEW8m_5w?si=ZgcPALRZE31UvTuF

Name: Big Daddy
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
Sex: Male
Age: 2 year 1 months (as of 10/24/25)
Weight: 70 lbs
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Vaccinations: Up to date
Heartworm: Negative on recent testing
Microchipped: Yes

BASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:
Good with Children: Teens would be best
Good with Dogs: selective so he needs a home by himself (he is not social with other dogs)
Good with Cats: yes if they are used to dogs

Adoption Fee: $350.00

Location of dog currently: New England

IMPORTANT INFORMATION -

Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.

Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.

Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
