BETTY's Story

Hi, I’m Betty! I’m a 7-year-old brown and white Basset Hound mix with a sweet face and an even sweeter soul. I was transferred from another shelter to give me a better chance at finding my forever home and I’m really hoping that home might be yours. I’m a gentle senior gal who loves cozy naps, soft blankets, and spending time with my people. I have that classic hound charm: soulful eyes, a calm and loving nature, and a peaceful presence that makes you want to sit down and relax with me for a while. I may be past the puppy stage, but don’t worry, I still have plenty of love to give and would make a wonderful, loyal companion. I also come with some great bonuses! I’m housebroken, I walk beautifully on a leash, and I know how to enjoy the simple things in life. I tend to bond more quickly with women and can be a little shy around men at first, but with gentle, proper introductions, I warm up pretty fast. If you have room in your heart (and on your couch) for a deserving senior who just wants love and comfort, I’d really love to meet you! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog's better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. I am a senior dog that is eligible for the Senior 2 Senior Adoption Program! The Adoption Fee Includes: - initial canine distemper combination vaccination - first worming or stool check - rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age) - 24 Petwatch microchipping - flea treatment/preventative - spaying or neutering Adoption fee: $95.00 Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$7.20) Leash and collar included.
