Betty's Story

Adopt Betty – adventure buddy and cuddle companion

After waiting at the Coquitlam Animal Shelter for a year, Betty is thriving in foster care and is ready to bring her playful, affectionate energy to a forever home! If you’re looking for a dog who leans her whole body into you for belly rubs, zooms like Sonic the Hedgehog when she’s happy, and drops the ball right into your hand in a game of fetch, Betty’s your girl.

Betty is sweet-natured, affectionate, and playful, with good house manners. She walks nicely on-leash and is non-reactive toward other dogs. When it comes to activities, she is versatile, happily joining you on walks, runs, or hikes, playing with dog friends, playing fetch, or just zooming around with you in the yard. When it’s time to relax, she loves cuddling up beside you or bird-watching in the backyard.

Betty was found abandoned, and while her past is unknown, she’s shown us how resilient and loving she is. She’ll do best with an experienced adopter who can help her continue building confidence and feeling safe as she settles into her new home.

Breed: Husky
Age: Approx 2-3 years
Gender: Female
Weight: Approx 45 lbs.
Dogs: Loves playing with well-matched dog friends who can handle her exuberance, but would do best as the only dog in the home due to resource guarding.
Cats: No, high prey drive.
Kids: Older dog-savvy.
Exercise requirements: 1.5 - 2 hours daily.
Medical: Spayed and vaccinated; no medical concerns or allergies.

Fun fact: Huskies are naturally clean and almost odorless dogs, making them super soft and huggable! While you’re guaranteed to get fur (aka. rescue glitter) on your clothes, their coat rarely needs bathing—just regular brushing.
