Betty's Story

Meet Betty!

Betty is a beautiful, goofy, loving girl estimated to be around 3 years old who was originally found as a stray in Kankakee. Whatever her past looked like, shes clearly decided her future involves being as close to her humans as physically possible at all times.

This sweet girl is equal parts shadow, comedian, and backyard athlete. Betty LOVES being outside, running around the yard, chasing birds, supervising squirrels, and digging in her very specific self-made bunker hole. Shes not a yard destroyer by any means... just deeply committed to her one weird little excavation project.

Inside the house, Bettys favorite hobbies include destroying stuffies with impressive dedication, chewing on bones and Kongs, harassing her foster sister for playtime, and following her foster mom from room to room like a slightly anxious but extremely lovable personal assistant.

Betty is incredibly affectionate and thrives on connection with her people. Ask her for a kiss and shell happily oblige. Ask her to be nice and she genuinely tries her best. She knows commands like come, is working on sit, stay, and shake, and takes treats SO gently. Sometimes shell even speak for snacks... when the mood strikes her.

Like many smart, sensitive dogs, Betty does have some anxiety shes continuing to work through. She does not enjoy being crated and can become destructive if isolated for long periods. However, she has already made huge progress and continues to improve every day with patience, consistency, and reassurance. Shes also working through some mild resource guarding, but does very well when dogs have their own separate space for treats, toys, or meals.

Betty would thrive in a home with:
A fenced yard for zoomies and squirrel patrol
Older kids (10+)
A younger, playful dog companion
Humans who are home more often than not
Someone willing to continue helping her build confidence and feel safe

This girl bonds hard and loves deeply. Once youre her person, youre her person. Betty doesnt need perfection. She just needs a family willing to understand her big feelings, laugh at her weirdness, and love her through it all.

And honestly? Whoever gets this dog is getting a hilarious, loyal best friend with the worlds biggest heart hidden inside a slightly chaotic package.

Est DOB 01/01/2024
Apply at rescueapittie.org
