Bessie is a is a sweet, loving, friendly girl and will make a wonderful companion. She does very well with humans but can be territorial over HER human. She fully and completely falls in love and is loyal to a fault. She adores short walks, long naps, sunshine, snuggling, and burrowing under a warm toasty blanket (She expects cozy blankets in every room so she can burrow) - preferably while touching her person. Or any person! While she adores the dog she lives with now, she can be aggressive towards dogs that come near her people, so she might be best as an only dog. Bessie needs a fenced yard, as she loves to explore, and her hearing is stubbornly selective. She doesn’t show much separation anxiety and does fine left at home alone – but her happy dance and zoomies when you return will keep you laughing. She’s food-motivated, eating anything she can reach, so she’ll need to have strict limits on both her intake and her access to food. She has the Dachshund tendency towards gaining weight – and being stubborn but not the excessive barking. Although she does enjoy barking at dogs on TV. Bottom line, Bessie (nickname Bessie Boop) is quirky, hilarious, has a BIG personality, excels at staring adoringly at you, and is never far away. She’s weird, but incredibly entertaining. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters.
