Beryl's Story
More than a year... that's how long Beryl has been waiting to be chosen. We know her person is out there.

Beryl, also affectionately known as Bea, came into rescue as a puppy in 2017 and was adopted by her foster mom and BFDR volunteer, Kim. Sadly, Kim passed away suddenly and Bea has been in a foster home since March 2025, waiting for her forever home. Kim was all that Bea has ever known, so Bea takes some time to warm up to people but she's making great progress. Her foster mom even took her to work the other day and Bea was very brave.

Bea is a spunky senior girl who doesn't act her age. Being a mature lady, she is somewhat set in her ways -- though aren't we all to an extent? With that, she would be best suited as the only dog in the home. Bea is fine with neighbor dogs, dogs out on walks, or outdoor visitors where she enjoys a good play session, but wants her space to remain her own. She can share her space with a cat so long as the cat pretty much ignores her.

Bea is not a big fan of car travel but her foster is trying to get her on more outings. She also doesn't love the vet or the groomer and requires medication.
Bea is a bit quirky but if you can get past her quirks, she is truly a lot of fun. She's cat-like in that she's content to spend most of her time in her own space but will seek you out or check in with you from time to time for attention and snacks. So if you're not looking for an overly affectionate dog, she is your girl. Bea does well when left alone and would be fine with a family who works outside of the home.
She's incredibly spry for her age, and zooms around the backyard like a puppy. She is not a flight risk and has good recall. She will however steal toilet paper and paper towel in order to pull out and eat the tube -- who knew cardboard tasted so good. She will also counter surf easy targets, so make sure to keep your slice of pizza or PB&J out of reach.

We know the perfect fit for Bea is out there! Is it you?

Bea is currently in MI but can travel for the right home.

If you are interested in adopting this dog, please apply online, at https://bigfluffydogs.com/dog-adoption/. Our main website, www.bigfluffydogs.com has more information about us and the rescue process.

NOTE TO EMAILERS FROM PETFINDER: WE DO NOT RESPOND TO EMAIL INQUIRIES WITHOUT AN APPLICATION. WE REGRET WE CANNOT RESPOND TO EVERY EMAIL, BUT UNLESS YOU FILL OUT AN APPLICATION, WE DO NOT KNOW YOU EXIST.

All known information about an individual dog is provided in its listing. We do our best to provide accurate information, but adopters should understand that each home is different and the dog may behave differently in a new home. Dogs are creatures of their environment and you help make the dog what it will be.
