Bertie's Story

Are you looking for a roommate who is physically ~60 lbs, but emotionally a toddler in a tuxedo? Bertie is your guy. He’s a young, very goofy, and slightly uncoordinated gentleman who is currently accepting applications for a forever family.

The Skillset:
Crate trained, house broken, sits on command. He’s quick to identify and understand a routine.

The Vibe:
The king of "Calm Cool." If you’re looking for a co-pilot for road trips, he’s the man—he handles car rides with grace. When he meets a stranger, he doesn’t just say hello; he offers a full-body "I just met my new best friend" wiggly greeting. He’s a bit like the Energizer Bunny… he can goof around all day with toys, shadowing people, and chasing his housemates never seeming to lose steam in his engine.
He seems well-behaved for a youngster. He treats his crate like a five-star resort. Once the sun goes down, he is a silent sleeper. No snoring, no midnight pacing—just 60 lbs of peaceful dreams until morning.
He loves to play with his housemates. When he tires them out, he happily settles into raiding the toy box for something to entertain himself.

The "Quirks":
He’s still growing into his paws, which means he’s a bit of a "bull in a china shop," if the bull were really sweet and accidentally tripped over its own shadow. He’s dog-friendly and ready to find a pack that appreciates a guy who is 10% athlete and 90% Scooby-Doo.
He’s working on leash walking and common commands.

Unknowns:
Kids and cats. In his time with the rescue, he hasn’t been introduced to cats or kids under 8.

Ideal Match:
A family who appreciates a goofy, constant companion who is excited to meet every stranger like they’re a long-lost celebrity. If you have a car, a comfy living room, and a sense of humor about a dog who might occasionally trip over his own shadow, he’s your guy. He might even trip over your shadow because he likes to be wherever you are.

---
To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html
