Bert's Story
Meet Bert (aka Bertski, aka Bertrand, aka Your Future Adventure Buddy)

Bert is a 44-pound Australian Shepherd mix with a big brain, a bigger heart, and a zest for life that’s finally getting the stage it deserves. After a rough start, Bert has officially closed that chapter and is all-in on his next era: cozy beds, outdoor adventures, and being absolutely obsessed with his people.

And here’s the thing, Bert isn’t “difficult.” He’s intentional. He knows what he likes, communicates clearly, and thrives with people who respect that. Move thoughtfully, honor his boundaries, and you’ll watch this boy blossom in real time. (Spoiler: he already is.)

Why Bert is Actually Amazing:

Brilliant & Driven: Bert lives for training. Puzzle toys? Yes. Agility? Obsessed. Learning new things with his human? His love language. If you’ve got working-dog experience or just love a smart, engaged partner, Bert will meet you there and then some.
Adventure-Ready: Hiking buddy? Check. Backyard parkour enthusiast? Double check. A fenced yard = Bert’s personal playground where he can zoom, jump, and show off his growing agility skills.
Dog Social (with style): Bert enjoys other dogs and does great with thoughtful introductions. He’s the kind of guy who prefers a curated guest list over a chaotic house party.
Snuggle Pro: After a day of being an overachiever, Bert is all about the couch life. This boy will absolutely cash in on cuddle time.
Communicator Extraordinaire: Bert isn’t shy about expressing himself, and honestly, it’s kind of refreshing. No guessing games here.

Bert’s Ideal Setup (aka How to Win His Heart):

A human (or humans) who enjoy training, structure, and building a real bond
A fenced yard for zoomies and agility practice
An active lifestyle with equal parts adventure and couch time
Adult home or dog-savvy environment that understands his enthusiasm
Dog friends? Yes please. Cats? Hard pass. They’re just too exciting
Children are OK, but they should be older and respectful of his space.

A Few “Bert-isms” (aka Endearing Features):

He prefers all four paws on the ground. Handling is improving with trust and patience, but he is still not a huge fan of being picked up or having his feet touched.
Gets excited for treats (honestly, same), but is learning polite manners
Can get amped up quickly, but is making great progress learning how to regulate and relax
Not a fan of chaotic dog park~ he’s more of a “small group hike with friends I know” kind of guy

The Bottom Line:
Bert is quirky in the best way~smart, hilarious, affectionate, and deeply loyal. He’s looking for someone who sees his potential (it’s huge), appreciates his personality (it’s even bigger), and wants a true partner in crime for training, exploring, and snuggling.

Put in a little effort, and Bert will give you years of loyalty, laughs, and love.

Neutered
Microchipped
Housebroken
Crate trained
UTD on vaccinations
UTD on preventatives
Good in a car

Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.

Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $350, ($600 for a pair). Of Agriculture License Number: 474085-DS

NOTE ABOUT AGING A DOG: Aging a dog, based on looking at them, is unreliable and usually inaccurate. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality and their needs.

Puppy - Under 6 months
Young Adult - 6 months to 2 years
Adult - 2 years to 8 years
Senior - 8 years to 12 years
Golden Oldie - 12+ years
