Bernie's Story

YOU MUST HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION IN ORDER TO MEET OUR PETS.

Bernie is an approximately 6 year old, 14 pound possibly Maltese Poodle mix

Bernie is a gentle little soul who is just beginning to discover how wonderful life can be.

When Bernie arrived in rescue, it was clear he had not experienced many of the simple joys every dog deserves. While we do not know his full story, we suspect he spent much of his life with very limited opportunities to explore, play, or simply enjoy being part of a family. Despite that, Bernie has remained incredibly sweet, trusting, and eager to love.

Every day he grows a little more confident. One of his favorite moments is greeting his foster dad, where his entire body lights up with enthusiastic tail wags. It is a small thing, but it is wonderful to watch him realize that people can be a source of comfort and happiness.

Bernie recently received a thorough veterinary exam. Overall, he appears to be in good health. He is currently being treated for what appears to be a long-standing ear infection and does have some hearing loss. We are hopeful treatment may improve his hearing, though only time will tell.

So far, Bernie has shown himself to be a calm, affectionate companion who enjoys being close to his people. As he settles into foster care, we are looking forward to learning more about his personality, favorite activities, and ideal home.

Bernie is searching for a patient family that will continue showing him kindness, consistency, and all the love he has missed. In return, he will reward you with quiet companionship, gentle affection, and the joy of watching him blossom into the happy dog he was always meant to be.

Please check back as we continue to update Bernie's profile while he settles into foster care.

Adoption donation $300
