Bernie's Story
Meet Bernie: Your New Best Friend (and Professional Taste Tester)

At five-ish years old, this handsome black-and-white Cocker Spaniel has his priorities figured out: snacks, snuggles, and more snacks.

Hes currently rocking a slightly "festive" figure—let's just say he's built for comfort, not for speed. What he lacks in aerodynamics, however, he more than makes up for with a tail that literally never stops moving. It is a perpetual motion machine powered entirely by pure joy and the distant sound of a cheese wrapper opening.

Bernie needs to lose some weight but is enthusiastic about walks and playing! He was likely fed a lot of people food as he is still skeptical when his foster parents put dog food in his bowl. Bernie is 300% food motivated - treats, food you have, food on the ground, food on the counter, food he thinks he smells, old food he finds - he is an equal opportunity foodie!

Bernie has long spaniel ears and will need regular ear maintenance as well as grooming. He is house and crate trained and gets along well with the dogs at his foster home. He also gets along well with the toddler in the home but the toddler doesn't always like Bernie's enthusiasm for kisses. Maybe older kids only (Bernie will also jump or rear up to say hi). Bernie also appreciates when people understand respecting a dog's personal space when they first meet him. Bernie loves a car ride, espeically if it is AWAY from the vet office.

Bernie was an unclaimed stray and is working through a double ear infection and his fitness routine but he knows there is a family out there who could be looking for an extra large cocker needing some love!
