Benson (A566760) arrived on April 11, and it took him less than a day to show us one very important thing: this boy can move! ?? He may be new here, but he is already putting every ounce of his athleticism on display. Outside is where Benson shines. He loves toys, loves fresh air, and loves showing off the kind of vertical jump that would make most basketball players jealous. We are not exaggerating when we say he can leap six feet in the air to catch a ball. Good luck getting it back though. Fetch is Benson’s favorite game, but returning the ball is still a skill he prefers to skip. Benson is a playful dog with a lot of energy and even more personality. He is the kind of dog who wants a yard, a pile of toys and someone who enjoys watching him live his best life. While Benson is wonderful with people, he is not comfortable around other dogs. From our observations, he would do best as the only dog in his forever home. We want to be open about that because dogs like him: mostly black, athletic, and not good with other pets often wait months before someone gives them a chance. We are hoping that if we share his story early, maybe we can help him avoid a long stay. Benson is a good dog. He is fun, joyful and full of life. What he needs is a family who sees his energy as something to celebrate instead of something to shy away from.
